Institute for Applied Polymer Research

In the PAPURE project, Fraunhofer IAP characterizes coated and uncoated papers for packaging applications to determine whether they are suitable for joining without the application of additional foreign substances.

Institute for Material and Beam Technology

As part of the PAPURE project, Fraunhofer IWS is contributing its comprehensive expertise in laser system technology and laser material processing as well as its many years of experience in modifying natural materials.

Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging

As part of the PAPURE project, Fraunhofer IVV is developing a joining process for processing laser-treated paper and producing high-quality joints.

Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology

At Fraunhofer IWU, a demonstrator for the PAPURE project is being developed that will translate the research results into an industry-oriented process and demonstrate its practical suitability for the packaging industry.

Fraunhofer IAP

Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP

Fraunhofer IAP specializes in the development of (bio)polymers and nanomaterials, plastics processing, functional integration, lightweight construction technologies, and the chemical recycling of plastics. We combine extensive expertise in polymer research with knowledge from engineering, materials science, nanotechnology, and biotechnology. This enables us to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow in a targeted manner.

Our focus is on bioeconomy and sustainability, energy transition and mobility, health and quality of life, as well as industry and technology. Around 260 employees at seven locations develop customized solutions from the initial idea to industry-oriented prototypes for the packaging industry, energy, environmental and wastewater technology, aviation, the automotive industry, rail vehicle construction, lightweight construction and the construction industry, the textile industry, biotechnology, and medical technology.
